Elevator smoke triggers full fire alarm, and spotlights emergency needs

Residents vacated their units during a fire alarm on July 27.

July 27 at about 10:15 pm, Marina Cove experienced its first full complex fire alarm in quite some time. The Shoreline Fire Department arrived and fairly quickly determined that the M Building elevator had been overheating, filling the elevator equipment room with smoke and triggering the alarm system. The elevator automatically shut down and the FD advised us to leave the door ajar for the night to allow it to cool and clear the smoke.  Once it was determined that the disabled elevator posed no further danger the FD left. 

Busy maintenance schedule proceeding according to plan

A number of maintenance projects, including landscaping at the south
end of P Building have been completed.

As most Marina Cove residents are aware, we are tackling a number of maintenance projects this summer including hand rails in stairwells, lighting, window replacements, pressure washing, painting and landscaping. Marina Cove President Lynn Hodges reported updates to board members, which are shared here.

Lighting project brightens Marina Cove complex

The Marina Cove lighting upgrade has been completed according to plan. The garage lighting phase resulted in rave reviews from residents. 

The breezeway, patio, and deck lights were completed the week of July 25 for N and P buildings, but the contractor ran into an unexpected hiccup in M building. The deck fixture openings were bigger than expected and the contractor had to change to larger fixtures, which delayed M building deck lights by one day.

As If Theatre's Kenmore Quickies kick off Aug. 7-9

As If Theatre Company is back and ready to misbehave! To celebrate our 6th annual short play festival, we are shaking things up with a brand-new, wickedly fun twist: The Kenmore Quickies – The 8 Deadly Sins. Eight playwrights, eight directors, and 15 actors have teamed up to bring delicious mischief to the stage for 4 performances, August 7–9, 2026.

Kenmore Quad set for Aug. 22, 9-noon

 

Join us for the 4th annual Kenmore Quad event, presented by the City of Kenmore! 

Event takes place Saturday August 22nd from 9am - noon. This unique event takes the traditional triathlon to the next level with an added paddling component (kayak or SUP). Limited watercraft rentals are available while supplies last.

City wants to hear from residents about its climate action plan

 

The City of Kenmore is updating its Climate Action Plan (CAP) for the first time. We are currently seeking to understand how residents of Kenmore experience climate change and what climate action they would like to see in the city. Use this link to fill out the brief survey.

Annual dryer vent cleaning set for July 10

 

Dryer vents will be cleaned on Friday July 10, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM.  Property Manager Mike Carlson will be on site with Vent Masters starting at 11:00 AM to enter each unit to clean your dryer vent.
